On 29th February 2008, Martin Colenutt, Commercial Director of Colebrook Bosson Saunders, set off from Heathrow for Kathmandu and ultimately Mt. Everest - the highest point on the planet.

This was the start of an expedition to Everest Base camp organised by the British Heart Foundation to raise funds for the charity.  There were 25 people on the expedition plus two mountain leaders, a doctor and numerous sherpas (who carried the bags and supplies).  Each participant raised at least £3,100 for the charity.  Although Martin had many generous sponsors, CBS have stepped up to the mark to be Martin's main sponsor.

Martin's association with British Heart Foundation began with the London to Brighton cycle ride and lead on to BHF inviting Martin to run the London Marathon.

After spending a day in Kathmandu, a light aircraft took the group to Lukla (2860 metres).  Over 14-day the group trekked to Everest Base Camp (5160m) and Kala Pattar (5600 metres) where they watched the sun setting over Mt. Everest, in the then relatively short distance.  The summit of Kala Pattar is widely acknowledged as one of the best places to view Everest.

The group walked for up to 8-hours per day through a wide variety of undulating terrain. Temperature was mild to start with, but as the group ascended, night time temperatures fell as low as minus 20 degrees C - it was around minus 5 degrees in their tents.
