On the 16th June 2017, 14 courageous members of the CBS team completed a 57mile cycle ride from our office in London Bridge to the picturesque city of Brighton, sponsored to raise charitable funds for Guy’s & St Thomas a local Southwark Charity.
Peter Williams – We are a team of employees from Colebrook Bosson Saunders who want to extend our commitment beyond the work place and into our local community. We have chosen to support this charity that are both national and local with a Union Street (CBS London HQ) to Brighton cycle ride.
For this year’s Charity Day we cycled from London to Brighton, 57 miles, supporting Guy’s St Thomas a local Southwark Charity.
Guy’s St Thomas is a local charity for Southwark taking a new programmatic approach to tackling complex health issues affecting people in our borough. Connecting with those facing the same challenges to combine resources, share insights and create meaningful change, aiming to reduce childhood obesity and improve health for people with multiple long-term conditions that go beyond what the NHS can provide.
At 7:45am our brave cyclists began their journey to Brighton, warm temperature, blue sky and plenty of enthusiasm!
Alex Corrie was celebrating his 21st birthday during the ride, and in the spirit of the occasion, had his bike kitted out with performance enhancing birthday balloons that were reportedly lost during the ride.
Our cyclists made sure to stop every once and a while to rest and refuel.
The team made a great effort to get up Ditchling Beacon, reaching the summit and having a well deserved rest! One cyclist described the climb as “like climbing Everest.”
At 15:15 the team arrived at Brighton Seafront, and enjoyed a late Fish and Chips lunch.
Seven of the original cyclist completed the return trip to London and three returned via the office to complete the round trip of over 114miles!
The team managed to raise over £1,300 for Guy’s St Thomas! Well done team! A special thank you goes to Peter Williams (pictured above right) for organising and leading this event!
